Nicholas Angel, an extremely dedicated and over-achieving police officer in London’s Metropolitan Police Service, is so good that he makes everyone else on the force look bad. As a result his superiors send him to a place where his talents won’t be quite so embarrassing: the sleepy and seemingly crime-free village of Sandford, where there hasn’t been a recorded murder for twenty years.
