The Prestige is a 2006 period film directed by Christopher Nolan, adapted from Christopher Priest’s award-winning 1995 novel of the same name. The film depicts the rivalry of Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, stage magicians in late 19th-century and early 20th-century London. Angier blames Borden for a tragic accident, and a competitive one-upmanship ensues in which both magicians, obsessed with creating the best stage illusion, stop at nothing to uncover the secrets of each other’s acts, with tragic results.
